The smart bathroom mirror market has changed a lot in the past couple of years. It’s no longer about packing in as many features as possible. What really matters now is core performance and reliable service.
If you’re looking for a smart mirror, here are a few things worth paying attention to:
1. Go with heated anti-fog, not just coated
There are two common types of anti-fog technology – electric heating and coating. Coated mirrors tend to lose their effectiveness over time. Heated ones are much more durable and consistent. If you want a mirror that still works well after a few years, pick the heating type.
2. Look for IP65 or higher for waterproofing
Bathrooms are humid, and the electrical parts inside the mirror need proper protection. A waterproof rating of IP65 or above is a good benchmark. You might not notice it every day, but it saves you from a lot of trouble down the road.
3. Sort out installation before you buy
Before making a decision, check three things: what type of wall you have, whether there’s a power outlet already in place (usually 1.1–1.3 meters from the floor), and whether the brand offers installation service. If installation is not included, it can be a hassle to find someone else later. Go with a brand that offers a full setup whenever possible.
4. Sintered stone looks great, but check the manufacturer’s capability
Sintered stone has become quite popular for mirror cabinets and countertops. It’s wear-resistant, stain-resistant, and handles heat well. But it’s not easy to process – cutting, edging, and drilling all require skill. Make sure the manufacturer has in-house fabrication experience. Otherwise, the final result may not live up to expectations.
